Morris Family Update

It has been a while since my last update. So here are a few things that have happened in the Morris family since my last post.

1. I survived my shopping challenge in June! Some days were definitely harder than others! I had a lot of help to get me through. I had several group therapy sessions with the lovely ladies who sit by me at work. Although one of them frequents the same shops as me. She felt guilty telling me when she went shopping! I think taking a month off has really helped me take back control. July is almost over and I have spent half as less as previous months.

2. Matt and I have been married 4 months today! Newlywed life is treating us well. Tonight he treated me to one of his mom's recipes of Italian beef in the crock pot. Very yummy! I am lucky to have a hubby to share the cooking. I think our photo wedding album is almost done. I think I should have that puppy in our hands in August. The one other outstanding task since the wedding...still need to get the dress cleaned!

3. We kept my niece, Sydney last weekend. This was her second annual sleepover with Aunt Kim and Uncle Matt. We got our nails done, had sno-cones, went to the Children's Museum, made a fort and watched movies. It was a fun weekend! Plus, we got to see Syd, Bailey and Natalie July 4th weekend for fireworks!

4. I get to travel for work next week! I haven't traveled since 2006 with work. I am going to visit two of KBR's other offices to review budgets in Arlington and Birmingham. I will be gone all week. I plan to do a carry-on for the first time ever traveling. Many girlfriends do not think I can get everything in there. We will see, updates to come!

5. This month has been a very busy month for two of my bestest friends. Brittney and Jeremy just moved into their dream home in the Heights. I felt honored to be one of the first to see their lovely home. It is beautiful and I love to see Brittney so happy. You guys deserve it! Charlie too. Also, my friend Joe moved into their new home in Pearland. He keeps moving further away from me! :( Joe and Jason's house is gorgeous too and built by one of my favorite builders. Thanks for having us over for burgers! CONGRATS FRIENDS!

6. I am 28 and the drama never ends. Even with people I don't talk to anymore...enough said.

7. Family life - a few of you may know details, but the Freeman family needs a few prayers sent our way. My daddy and grandma especially. Love you.

8. Oh Honey buns... Honey has had rough month. From booty problems, doggie prozac and sedatives, I am glad to say Honey is back to normal and drug free! We still struggle with thunderstorms and loud noises, but I think we are making a little progress.

9. Matt took me to see Wicked this month. I felt like I was the last one to see it! It was amazing! Anyone who has known me since childhood, has known I have always been obsessed with the Wizard of Oz so seeing this extension of the story was awesome.

10. Well that is all folks. Keeping busy with work and married life. Next goal, getting my married weight off! It creeps on so easily!

Newlywed Life

So...we are already 7 days into our married life. Crazy, huh? Everyone tells you that the wedding events will fly by, but what they don't tell you is that newlywed life starts to fly by as well. Not too fast yet, but time will tell!

The most common piece of advice any bride will receive leading up to her wedding day is "to be sure to take it all in, savor the moments." Because as many a bride will know, the wedding day goes by super fast. Luckily for me, there were only moments of the day that went by super fast, which happened to be getting ready and then walking down the aisle. I really feel I was able to take it all in, so the advice that was said over and over to me, I think might of actually worked. Plus my shoes were killer! I had to stop every five seconds are so, just to regain composure! But I also remembered the advice of taking mental snapshots (courtesy of Jim and Pam from The Office.) Many of my mental snapshots are around moments with my girls leading up to the ceremony, moments with family, compliments that will last me a life time, and the moment that I turned the corner to meet my husband, even if I was tear-y eyed and sniffly!

So that leads us in short to today. 7 days in. Matt calls this our Pizza Hut - One week anniversary. Comical, I know. But that is my Matty. I will keep you all posted on the names of our next unofficial anniversaries. In the past seven days, we became husband and wife, went to the BVI for our honeymoon and now have safely returned home. The thought of returning to reality next week saddens me. As much I crave normalcy, I really do think I might have post-wedding blues. You spend so much time planning for a single day (in my case, close to a year and a half of planning) when in reality you should prepare for the next steps in your life and not every conversation to revolve around the wedding. Well I am lucky, because as a newlywed, I am lucky to have a husband (I love saying the word husband) that thinks ahead and has begun planning the rest of our lives together. So with this as my first blog post as a married gal, I dedicate it to my love, Matt. I look forward to all the precious memories we have in store. I love you baby!

To all our new readers, a few honeymoon pictures of us as NEWLYWEDS!
